⚠️ CREATOR PSA: If your account has access to TikTok’s AI messaging features, check your settings and review what it has actually been responding. I recently turned on the AI messaging feature available on my account to automatically respond to some message requests. The issue wasn’t simply that AI was responding—it was HOW. As shown in this video, I found responses that crossed boundaries I personally would never establish with someone I don’t know: implying personal friendship, reciprocating affectionate language, discussing location information, and engaging with attempts to move communication outside TikTok. Then another creator I know discovered an AI messaging feature on her account appeared to be responding to messages, and she hadn’t realized it was happening or known how to turn Auto-replies off. Several other creators in the conversation didn’t know about the feature either. ⚠️ ACCESS MAY VARY I do NOT know TikTok’s eligibility requirements. I’ve wondered whether access relates to follower count, account type, Professional messaging, device, region, app version, or a limited rollout—but I have NOT confirmed any of those things. I’m using an iPhone with Professional · Engage followers. Your interface may look different. If you don’t see these options, that does NOT necessarily mean you’re looking in the wrong place. On MY account, the AI includes Suggested replies, Auto-replies, Custom instructions and Insights, and I can toggle Auto-replies on/off. ⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER I am NOT affiliated with TikTok and have no access to or knowledge of TikTok’s internal AI systems, backend, programming, filtering logic, or rollout criteria. Everything here is based only on what I can personally observe on my account. I DID already have custom privacy/safety instructions in place when these messages occurred. They focused on harassment, inappropriate content, private/identifying information, my family, minors, location, schedules and safety. They clearly did NOT anticipate every behavior I observed. I expanded those instructions last night and communicated directly with the AI about additional boundaries. The NEW instructions are NOT a verified fix, official TikTok guidance, or a guarantee. I have not had enough time or data to know how consistently they work. I also cannot independently verify that statements the AI makes about rules being “active,” filtering/flagging messages, alerts, reports, or other behavior represent actual backend changes. Please do NOT interpret this as “I fixed it.” This is: Here’s what happened. Here’s what I had configured. Here’s what I changed. Here’s what I’m testing. 📌 My ORIGINAL instructions, NEW Don’t Reply prompt, Ask Before Replying prompt, and Filtered Keyword ideas are in the COMMENTS. They are ideas and starting points—not guarantees. Customize them for YOUR boundaries and monitor the results. AI can be useful for creators. My concern is an AI messaging feature sending responses associated with my account without me personally reviewing each response first. Someone receiving those messages may reasonably interpret them as representing me, my boundaries or my intentions—even though I never typed them. If you have this feature: check Auto-replies, review conversations it handled, review your custom instructions, check your DM privacy/safety settings, consider filtered keywords, and keep monitoring actual responses. If your menus look different or you’re having trouble finding something, ask me. I’m happy to TRY to help based on what I can see and what I’ve learned from my account. I may not know the answer—and I’d rather say “I don’t know” than pretend I understand TikTok’s system when I don’t. 📌 Original settings + updated prompts are in the comments. Save this. Share it with another creator. Check what responses are being associated with your account when YOU aren’t the one typing. #TikTokTips #CreatorTips #TikTokAI #OnlineSafety #contentcreators
