@prairie.creek.hom: My father was the last generation to farm in my family, his father’s farm wasn’t able to survive after the war. But my husband’s family has made it to the 5th generation, and we are currently, Lord willing, raising the 6th. His ancestors worked hard and survived on less, sacrificed to keep the farm in operation. Not only to provide for the family, but for the community and nation. Every extra penny we make is being put into paying off our land and purchasing the original homestead to keep it from dying. We love the land, we love the work, and cherish the legacy of those who came before us. It’s beautiful to see the story of the generations before, all working and planning for the generations to come. Is it easy? No. Is it worth it?
