the assistant in the time loop who IS the theif and somehow by stealing a time machine piece of technology from a showcase has trapped themselves in a personal hell, and since they have been throwing out all the evidence of them being the villain, they would have to expose themselves to break the loop and spend the rest of their days in prison, or be stuck in guilt trying to create something more with the detective each day without exposing themselves for fear of being hated by the detective forever >>>>>

What if the detective was looping too but didnt realize or didnt tell the assistant so its in the pov of the assistant and we think we’re the only one thats looping? Or what if the entire world is looping and we slowly start to piece together that its not just us who’s looping its everyone?

What if the assistant is trying to figure of who the thief is because the detective died at the end of the day and the assistant thinks it’s the thief that killed the detective because the detective got close to finding out the truth. And the assistant is stuck in the time loop trying to save the detective from their fate. The assistant is literally playing against faith
