For those who don’t know, Suzuki violin players that start early begin on a cardboard violin (Or in this case a wooden one) to learn the fundamentals of bow holds, where the violin goes on the shoulder, etc. See how the elbow on the hand on the violin is pulled under and not out like a chicken wing? Perfect. Then there are the Twinkle Variations, he is learning the first one. Once they can do those, they move to the real violin and it generally translates into actually making basic music versus just scratching sounds. The practice violin is what is known as Pre-Twinkle.
