@its_danielleryan: Genuinely just wish maternity leave was longer, we shouldn’t have to go through all of this to feed our babies! #pumpingmom #workingmom #breastfeedingjourney #postpartumawareness
I’d pump at my desk. Get a curtain for your cubicle

The way I’d pump at my desk to prove a point 🤷♀️set up a little curtain, hang a sign & make your own pump space.

legally doesn't it have to be a private room with a lock on the door? like I don't think a shared room with a curtain dividing it is sufficient?

Is this a hospital? At my hospital we literally have staff doing patient care wearing wearable pumps

The way I would mosey my way to the “pumping area”. Time to practice malicious compliance. It’s now gonna take an extra 1/2 hour for each pumping session. And I would definitely be looking up your state revised codes.

This pisses me off. Being a medical center, they should have the most open, pumping policy

I’d be taking a nice leisurely walk, and starting my timed pumping break once I settle in “the pumping place”. They don’t care that you have to walk now, but see how fast they change that up when your “break” lasts an hour instead of 30min

I have a feeling they changed it so they could time how long you are doing it with the swipe card

hold up! what are they using that room for now? it looks perfect for pumping, I personally would be so uncomfortable in the curtain area. 😬

Even though that's same building but that's really far especially if you are break or not. I dont understand why it is issue to close and lock.I am pumping/breastfeeding my baby i cant control my milk coming out. Those milk pads for my breast make me too hot

I find it wild that it’s a hospital asking you to do this. What a productivity suck. I would time your pump walk and times and be like hey this is where my time at work is going and it’s killing me!

NOPE pump act allows you to choose where you want pump but it’s required they provide a space with x,y,z.

So why couldn't you use that room?? I would check your policy and reach out to hr

File a complaint with HR that 1) there is not enough space for ALL the pumping mothers, 2) that the time spent walking there could be better spent doing your job, 3) it is a retention benefit to keep nursing/pumping mothers happy, 4) that there is a monetary cost to replacing workers who resign, 5) having actual parent/family friendly workplace practices is good for recruitment and retention. But having a private room with a locking door is the only real requirement, so why does the other room not work? It’s not like you are in there all day.

But will they fire you for using the other room? Is there something in written policy saying you cant use that room to pump? Theres always loop holes no matter where you are. Keep pumping in that room

I got handless pumps and would put them in at my desk and take them out. It's was a 3 walled cubical and I didn't give a fuck. I wasn't taking my own personal time to pump.

The first room is a private respite room right? They can't dictate what you do in there. I'd continue using that room, is there a lock on the door?

I was given a room that was also used for training. And no one respected the sign on the door. So I got walked in on a few times and had people upset I was in there. It got to the point where I could only pump twice a day on a good day. So I ended my breastfeeding/pumping journey earlier than I wanted to. It was very disappointing 😞

I’m a teacher and I’ve asked already to make sure my lunch and plan cannot be interrupted and spread out. Right now that are back to back and interrupted to help with something or other. Even then I will have to give up my lunch to pump no matter what.
