One of the most magnificent interiors within Schloss Linderhof - the famed Spiegelkabinett (Mirror Cabinet), beautifully exemplifies Ludwig II of Bavaria's extraordinary imagination. Herein one can clearly perceive his inspiration drawn from the Mirror Cabinet of the Munich Residenz, where Bavarian court architects reinterpreted French Rococo and endowed it with greater theatricality, more florid acanthus scrollwork, shells, rocaille trellises and intricate floral tracery.
Ludwig, however carried Bavarian Rococo ornament to perhaps it's most fantastical extreme, amplified by endlessly multiple mirrored panels, sumptuous gilded boseries and gilt bronze dorm candle sconces whose flickering illumination transforms the chamber into an almost dreamlike vision.
The room is further adorned with Louis XV-style Rococo-Revival salon furniture, chaise longue upholstered in bleu céleste silk, lapis bleu fireplaces, delicate cabinet vases, while above the cornice frieze, cherubs, monogrammed cartouches and a mythological plein-air ceiling completes this extraordinary Rococo fantasy.
Thank you for a wonderful post. 😃😎🤩🥰
