No, you drill the appropriate sized pilot hole for the drywall anchor you're using, then push it in. This doesn't work because he's trying to pound a plastic drywall anchor in to wood. Also, use toggle bolts, they're better

Except that if you drilled the proper size hole and didn’t hammer it sideways it would just work properly… this is showcasing it in wood (when anchors are for drywall) and they are clearly not making any effort to actually hammer it properly.

No. You make the hole JUST enough for the anchors to slide in and when you screw in the screw, it opens up the anchor to preventing the anchors from coming out.
