@ktnlife: when i don’t hear speech it sounds like someone mumbling or gibberish, even if they pronounced their words perfectly clear. i will hear bits and pieces of the sentence clearly, and other parts of it i have no idea what you’re saying. yes there are PLENTY of sounds i don’t hear and when i take my hearing aids out it’s basically total silence (except for weights slamming at the gym or something of that volume) but when i have them in, i do have access to sound. i just have a lot of trouble recognizing and understanding what those sounds are if i can’t *see* them. lipreading is so so crucial in helping me understand speech but even that isn’t a perfect fix. so if you’re communicating with someone deaf or hard of hearing, be patient with us! we want to be able to understand you just as much as you want to be able to be understood 🤍 #deaf #hearingloss #hearingaids
