Anyone can use the word ghetto, period. Your racism is showing by thinking only black people can be ghetto. That's weird! You're strange

Ghetto was created to describe the Italian neighborhoods THEN when they were welcomed as yt the term moved to us and was used by us. We don’t like it WE have to stop using it.

They dont understand what the definition of ghetto truly is. They dont realize most regular low income white people live in ghettos. White people just refuse to call poor white spaces ghetto because its a word reserved for black people

The origin of the word ghetto originated from Jewish settlements in the 1500s. If you want people to not use a word try the N word it shouldn't be used by anyone.😳

From a First Amendment perspective, all individuals should have the right to use the language they choose, even if you find it offensive or controversial. The "remedy" for harmful speech is more speech and open debate, not censorship or race-based restriction. Unfortunately, language policing immediately gives birth to a resistance and the superficial ‘fix’ ignores the underlying social issue and response it inevitably generates. Focusing on specific vocabulary bans like this, is a form of performative activism that doesn't actually change prejudiced attitudes or structural inequality but instead does nothing but fuel a backlash by empowering the far right. The remedy for offensive speech is counter-speech, which promotes open dialogue… government censorship based on race will only backfire. To be clear, i also hate it when people use the word ghetto and direct it towards people just because they’re black, but to me, that says a lot more about the people saying it than it does the people they’re talking about. good luck ❤️

I’m not even white but cmon this like telling a black person not to speak in an articulate manner because they don’t know what it is to be educated

You’re correct. I dated a white guy who called chewed gum in a napkin ‘ghetto.’ He caught himself before completing the word.

Ghetto means "foundry" in Italian. It was used when the itailans segerated jews and made them stay in places that were formerly used for early copper-casing plants in the 16th century. Then it was later used again during the holocaust and Nazi's, but Jews were segregated in the ghetto once again. So, no, a ghetto is historically not a black term; it is Italian-made for jews. Also, an important note is its history. You cannot take away terms and their meanings, along with their history, just because you don't like them. History is important.
