@philip_b_howie: Bad posture doesn’t always begin where you think it does. Before the rounded shoulders, the collapsed chest, the forward head something more fundamental has already shifted: your body’s connective tissue has hardened around an emotion that was never expressed. Fascia responds to unresolved stress the same way it responds to physical injury. It tightens, dehydrates, and forms holding patterns around the muscles and organs it surrounds, creating a protective armor that, over time, becomes structural. Grief collapses the chest, fear contracts the abdomen and guards the hips, and chronic anger grips the jaw and twists the rib cage. They are measurable postural adaptations driven by fascial armoring, your body’s physical record of what the nervous system never finished processing. Cortisol and adrenaline, released continuously under unresolved stress, strip fascia of its elasticity and fluid consistency. Layers that should glide begin to stick, range of motion narrows, and the posture that unexpressed emotions created becomes the posture the body defaults to. Correcting it requires working at the root, which in most cases is the nervous system. Diaphragmatic breathing shifts the body into parasympathetic mode, reducing the signal driving the armoring, myofascial release breaks adhesions and restores fluid dynamics, while somatic work allows your body to complete the stress responses it never finished. When the nervous system feels safe, fascia softens, and when fascia softens, posture reorganizes through release.

Somatic therapy’s father is Wilhelm Reich, Alexander Lowen and John Pierrakos expanded it and Lawrence Heller and Peter Levin are perfecting it… the body holds trauma…. In the fascia and musculature. Cathartic expression can help if done in curiosity….

I believe my anterior pelvic tilt has locked my body into a position that taxes my nervous system. Suffer from persistent fatigue and lethargy, I think releasing a this will have cascading benefits

Currently learning to let go and let be. Slowly torquing my body back to balance due to years of overusing my right side of the body subconsciously. Usually related with a life of overly stressing and relying on the left hemisphere of the brain. Everything is 1. Your cognitive and emotional, body and mind. The way you walk and the way you live. It’s all exposed and loved in the present, let go and let be, growing is natural. So then it’s how you grow that matters.

This is truth. All of my posture issues, and old physical injuries, have been dissapating as I go back and heal emotional wounds. Your body definetly retains unresolved trauma and emotional wounds.
