@horserescuerandhealer1: He’s not colicing. His legs just hurt that bad. Every time he stands, he paws. He shifts. He tries to get off himself. Then he lays back down. At first I thought something was wrong internally. The more I watched him, the clearer it became. It’s his legs. Three of these babies are wearing heavy, weighted shoes. Not normal shoes. Weighted shoes. These are used to exaggerate movement. The added weight forces a higher step, which some buyers want. Why I don’t know if they are just going to be attaching them to a plow anyway. I can’t even imagine the pain they go through. I can’t even make it through a weighted kick boxing class nonetheless wearing them 24/7 as a growing kid. Each foot can carry a few extra pounds as an adult, a fully grown horse, and THAT is already a lot. On a yearling… it’s excessive. Their bones are still developing. Their joints are not finished. Their ligaments are not ready for that kind of strain. This is how chronic long term problems start early. One already has a swollen knee. Another has a locking patella. And this one… He is laying down because standing hurts. Now let’s talk about why they are here.. At any auction, the sound, healthy, no-issue babies get picked up first. They get bid on. The ones that stay behind are the ones people pass on. There is always a reason. Sometimes it is subtle. Sometimes it is already visible. Either way, they get pushed down the pipeline. Not fixed. Not given time. Not helped. Just thrown away. That is exactly what is happening here. These shoes need to come off. They need quarantine. They need a vet. They need a real start before this becomes permanent. Right now, they need us. I am asking you to step in with me and get these four out so we can actually do something about it.
