@jasminedepqua: Sa Nguyen said she feels "too baddie" and compared that look to Cambodians with tan skin, lashes, and "big silver hoops"... something East Asians have historically said to belittle Southeast Asians. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt because she's done great things for Cambodians, and I respect that but I can't let that colorist comment slide. It is that deep. Colorism within our own communities is real, and it needs to be called out. I've seen it firsthand with my own cousins feeling insecure about their skin tone because of narratives like this.
