After Prince Jefri’s financial collapse, the state’s parliament decided to take control of part of his assets, including many of the cars he had purchased. Therefore, in 2001, a group of experts called in by the parliament were tasked with assessing the overall value of the Prince’s enormous and extraordinary “collection”.A specialist photographer, whose identity remains unknown to this day, photographed all of the cars. After photographing them, he allegedly duplicated every photograph and created a Google Drive document containing the entire collection of images. The cars were subsequently acquired by his brother, the Sultan, and only a few models were reportedly bought discreetly by famous restoration companies in Great Britain, with the help of members of parliament. Much later, in 2024, an Instagram account made the Google Drive file public, although it is no longer available today. Even though the identity of the person behind the leak is still unknown, many enthusiasts are grateful to whoever made the archive public. The most painful part is the condition of the cars in Jerudong today. The hot and humid tropical climate, with average temperatures of around 30–35°C, has taken its toll. Inside these huge warehouses there is reportedly no air conditioning, allowing the humidity and heat to cause mould and deterioration inside the cars. Over time, an unused car progressively deteriorates, making it increasingly difficult, and in some cases potentially impossible, to simply start and drive these vehicles without extensive restoration. The cars are neither sold nor made available for public viewing, as the Royal Family reportedly considers the whole story a scandal and something that could damage their reputation.
