They are essentially the same material (beryl) but they were produced in a lab. For what I do they are not too interesting to study under magnification, nevertheless I love having everything in my collection and I’m not snobby about synthetics. What do you say about a purple stone with redish hues? 2 people told me it's amethyst, it wasn't tested just by looking. However, under long uv is bright pinkish red like ruby glows under uv, which is something I didn't mention.
