Mine is Arabic ... وصلتني رسالتك بوضوح، وجعلني الأمر أتامل موضوع اللغة وخصوصًا الترجمة. للترجمة فوائد عديدة ولكن في نفس الوقت محدوديتها بإمكانها أن تشوهه المعنى. فما يعيه شخص بلغته الأساسية يسقط منها كثير عندما تنقل إلى لغة أخرى.

Dutch! De Nederlandse taal is erg vergelijkbaar met het oude Engels. dit heeft natuurlijk te maken met de verwantschap tussem de Friese taal die veel invloed heeft gehad op de toen destijdse Engels.

My mother tongue is Turkish🇹🇷, and I love reading the works of English literature. Although I sometimes read novels translated into Turkish, I much prefer reading them in their original langauge. By the way, I am also an English teacher! 😊 I’d like to share a passage from one of my favorite Turkish poems by Nazım Hikmet: "...Şimdiden çekilecek acısı bunun, duyulacak mahzunluğu şimdiden. French! Je remarque maintenant que mon niveau d'anglais me permet d'appréhender des textes assez complexes que je choisis la langue dans laquelle je vais lire un livre en fonction de la langue dans laquelle le livre a été écrit. Pour un livre écrit en Italien, Espagnol ou latin par exemple je vais chercher une traduction française alors qu'un livre Russe ou Allemand je lirai en Anglais, l'expérience de lecture est très différente je trouve selon la langue.

Mine is Italian, I do read classic in Italian and narrative in English. Although Italian is not a very wildly spoken language it’s interesting to note that Latin ( our grandfather in terms of linguistics heritage)has indeed left trace in a lot of non-Latin languages including English. Leggere e’ vivere mille vite in una sola!
