Common Sense :
As a man who was married in the early 2000s, I had no idea what narcissism was, and what the extent of what person with NPD would do. All I know is that I was living with a woman who obviously had unresolved trauma, at times saw me as a person who may have committed that trauma from someone in her past, and there was nowhere I could go. I even tried talking to the woman’s aunt about her behaviors, as I was written off. I went to get ministerial counseling, and everyone just looks at you like you’re the problem. A lot of men are suffering in silence in these marriages, under the pretense of trying to do the right thing by the children and sitting there and being abused and suffering at the hands of their wives. This is a fact. People just don’t want to admit that women are as abusive or more than men in marriages. So again, men suffer in these relationship silently, not getting help, not being taken seriously if they reported. The only way out is to just leave, and that decision in itself is abuse and torture because you’re likely not that type of person to run out on your responsibility and child. But at some point, it literally becomes a matter of self preservation to leave from out of the household of a narcissistic woman. I am a survivor, and I was a victim of living in a household with a narcissistic wife. I don’t care what biased statistics say about the propensity of men being more narcissistic than women, because literature shows that psychological evaluators “choose” not to diagnose them with NPD. The whole system is rigged.
