the worst part is that knowing logically that “it was in the past” doesn’t necessarily make the feeling disappear. and suddenly i’m hurting over a relationship i wasn’t even part of. but his past isn’t evidence against my relationship. the fact that they had feelings, experiences, attraction, or memories before me doesn’t diminish what exists between me now. i don’t have to compete with someone who isn’t even there.
