@goliathliftzz: The Bulgarian method was one of the most extreme trainings systems ever created. Ivan Adadjiev believed that the body adapted to what it was most exposed to. So, he made athletes max out every day. The result? 12 gold medals, countless world titles, and the strongest Olympic team of the 70s and 80s. Some believed it produced the most powerful athletes ever. Some believed it destroyed their bodies systemically. Could you adapt to this kind of training? #bulgarianmethod #strengthtraining #trainhardorgohome #buildmuscles #hardcoregym
There’s so much science against this it’s actually hilarious

So this is very interesting. I studied the Bulgarian method for several years and got some serious results. HOWEVER, what nobody talks about is that the Bulgarian weightlifters were full time weightlifters. This was their job. So it was more complex than just lift heavy every day. They had full time staff also dictating their diet, rest, and "supplements". AND while they had a large number of athletes medal, they had even more injured. This is the ONE thing I would recommend adding to your workouts that the Bulgarians preached: For all of your heavy sets, rest for 5 minutes before lifting. This helped my lifts tremendously.

Everybody used to train volume in the old days. Arnold and his contemporaries trained volume. Nowadays we know that not volume but intensity is key. And time to recover. And eat like a horse.

I believe in pushing volume e.g 12-20 sets a group over the course of a program for muscle groups. But this type of training seems unrealistic for most people. Doing something like this is asking for an injury.

They start out with over 1000 athletes and after 3-4 years of training they are left with 2. Those 2 win Olympic medals. It’s not a training method, it’s a method of weeding people out in order to find genetic outliers.

it for sure destroyed their bodies lol. even in "School Of Champions" you can see that they were brutally beat despite being enhanced. if nothing else convinces you, then 10 hours of training, 6 days a week itself is absurd
