I had this internal world as a child. I loved it. I had been placed in the 'retard' class for a couple years. no one noticed I was pretty blind even though I had a lazy eye that turned when I attempted to focus. I had had a TBI at age 2, so had stutter, speech impediment, and learning difficulties. I would make up songs and kept super entertained in my mind. I was invisible in -real life. finally a neighbor told my mom thst I couldn't see. Glasses that magnified my eyes allowed me to see what used to be soft and fuzzy. I still love my internal life but was forced to learn to get by in the outside world.
