How long you been tattooing? Every 7th or8th year I have gone through it. You just do something else. Find a new creative outlet. It will eventually remind you of what you liked about creating art for yourself

i got involved with my local galleries and art councils watching for open exhibition calls. it was a nice change of meeting new people in a different environment but still an art community

Not an artist but as a person who studies the brain, it’s probably because you have turned it into a chore in your subconscious. Now it’s “forced”. Kinda of like writers block for authors. I’d just keep filling your time with other things. Maybe find a new hobby within the art space. Something that uses your hands and creativity but fully with the expectation that it’s just for you.

Honestly what I have been doing I scheduling time into my month to just paint or make art. Stuff that isn’t tattoo related or “sellable” just stuff for me. It’s given me some space to breath and just create for the sake of creating.

Just like in nature, we go through seasons. That’s alright for sure. I’m with ya too. For the first time in my life (I’ve been tattooing for 13 years) I’m doing tattoos full time and I’ve been branching out and drawing stuff I like. And I also do some paintings that are fun to keep things interesting so maybe try that. Get some canvases and get in a flow. Something new ya know? This is something I like to make, bathtub caulk for texture and then spray paint.

I don't draw tattoos, but... I'm a creative and there are times I do not want to make anything.... So I don't... But I help other people make their ideas come to fruition, consult and share my expertise with others which then I find my block goes away. I stopped writing for a few years, then last year I contributed to two books with some friends, and it opened up the flood gates for me. idk... when you're ready, I have a tat idea I need help fleshing out, no pun intended.

When I go through this I watch tutorial videos. Mostly gesture, anatomy and TikTok live drawing. Even though it’s stuff I already know, something about watching other people’s approach will light a little fire that makes me want to utilize those skills.

I start a personal project or study. A lot of the time that looks like picking up a new medium. When I get burnt out on illustration ill pick up sculpting or sewing or some sort of physical medium to shift my brain away from 2D work. If I'm lacking inspiration I'll go to galleries or local makers markets. Sometimes just talking with other creatives in the real world helps rewire my brain. Hope this helps!😁

Go on vacation. Go to Venice FL and go to Caspersen Beach, it’s the shark tooth capital of the world. I even found a juvenile allosaurus tooth, man. Go back to your first inspirations in life. Did you like the beach? Did you love dinosaurs? It’s hard to get back into working after you come back but the break you take just for yourself is the refueling you need. This winter has sucked actual anus 🙈 But this industry makes time pass so tragically fast. Please slow it down and feed the other parts of you.
