My friend said they just add lots of ice to the pitcher of the coffee they just brewed. However, the coffee they brew is strong enough to not taste watered down afterwards. :)

If you're talking about cold brew or iced coffee at Starbucks that's already pre-chilled. Otherwise, smaller ice pellets generally have a higher SA/V ratio.

we make our ice coffee a little more concentrated so when you add ice to it it isn’t too watery. We brew hot coffee directly over ice and add more ice later with each drink. Try adding a little bit more coffee when you brew it at home, brew it directly on ice so the ice melts/dilutes it some, and then add the ice you want. It’s going to be trial and error unfortunately.

Brew your hot coffee at 2x the strength then put a lot of ice in it. The ice melts and dilutes the coffee to make a regular strength ice coffee. Sincerely someone who worked at sbux for 4 years.

So we make the ice coffee stronger and then add a bunch of ice. Think like we use a full batch of coffee but brew it do a half batch so when the ice melts it’s not overly diluted.

Freeze coffee into ice cubes to use for your iced coffee the next day, it won’t help with the time it takes, but it won’t water it down

They brew with half the water they need for the amount of coffee/tea they are making and add ice & water to complete the ratio.

I’m a barista (not sbux) but we pour the coffee back and forth with a cup of ice (abt 2 times) and it takes the temp right down
