@realsharpton: Last night on #PoliticsNation, I spoke with Billy Porter following his participation at the #NoKings pre-rally at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where artists gathered to push back against attacks on the arts and free expression. Billy made it plain that when governments move to silence culture, it is about control. The arts have always been a force that reaches people, challenges power, and brings truth forward. That is why they are often targeted first. As we see layoffs, closures, and cultural shifts unfolding, we must remain vigilant and understand what is at stake. Protecting the arts is about protecting democracy itself.
