Isn’t Easter Sunday next Sunday though? Do they do it in advance?

Former SDA here, my wife and myself are agnostics now, we still go to church on Saturdays because family and friends. We enjoy the community, no need to contradict people, we are just happy the way it is

I dabble within my assigned ward as an exmo, attending somewhat regularly, enjoying the rituals and community, participating in benevolence and service activities. Everyone has been so kind and supportive. I don’t take sacrament out of respect because it’s essentially an ordinance and that doesn’t sit right with me. I struggle on how to communicate in church… do I need to preface my thoughts with disclaimers about symbolism and nuance, or can I just speak the language they resonate with and find shared meaning and connection? What has your experience been like with that?

I cannot fully place into words how grateful I am for your work and perspective. It has greatly helped me to not feel so alone in my ever evolving understanding of spirituality, religious institutions, and the underlying structures/power. This post made me want to actually go church on Easter this year and reflect on Christ as archetype and the wilderness as sacred space. Thank you, so much. 🙏

I do this as a non believer sometimes. My friend invites me to church often and sometimes I go (usually holidays) for the experience and so she can learn make her own decision. Always love your content.

I'm so impressed with your hardwork and dedication to your craft. Many people take for granted the internal wrestling and then thoughtful framing that it takes to communicate difficult (and sensitive) topics with the nuance you do. Thank you.

I take my kids to Christmas Eve service bc of the community, signing & tradition. But also am an athiest. I didn’t know if this was strange so glad to know I’m not the only one.

You recommended a course a while back for introducing spiritual practices into kids lives, I wish I could find it now that my son is older

I’ve only been able to connect to Jesus the archetype if it was through Mary the mother archetype or Mary Magdalene archetype.

I have been exMo for 3 + years. Went to a cousin’s senior farewell in November. I only went cause I missed their dad’s funeral and we are separated geographically and getting old. I was able to just enjoy it and it didn’t affect me being there. I was tbm before leaving at 47.

Can you say more about “taking the sacrament” is that comparable to Eucharist/Communion? I’m still making sense of this myself but find myself (surprisingly?) MORE bothered by exclusive communion practices since deconstruction and for that reason generally choose to receive- but for me it feels like that least bad of several less than ideal choices.
