@thematernityguru: 39 weeks of PAID maternity leave 🤯 This is what’s possible when you actually understand how maternity leave works in California. This client had a few key things working in her favor: • She’s a teacher in CA at a district that pays into SDI (rare!) • Summer break does NOT count against her job protection • We strategically timed her leave to start right after the school year ended So what did her leave look like? ➡️ Full summer off ➡️ Rolled into pregnancy disability leave ➡️ Then into paid family leave Before we worked together, she was planning to take the bare minimum. After building her plan? She’s now taking 39 weeks of paid leave—that’s an additional 21 weeks at home with her baby. This is why planning matters. Most parents are never shown how to stack these benefits correctly, so they assume they can’t afford to take more time. But in many cases, that’s not true. If you’re not taking at least 6 months of paid leave in California, you could be missing out on both time AND money.
