@radicalstepmomspodcast: The stepmom who steps up... because the "real" mom won't...#stepmotherhood #blendedfamily #coparenting How many of you are an "overstepping stepmom" because you feel you have to overcompensate for the ex's absence? Fulltime stepmoms ... where are you?! How many of you have stepped into the role and first introduced the concepts of structure and a schedule? How many truly feel like you're not overstepping... you are just genuinely showing up for kids you care for and that's being villainized? No matter how you slice it, most stepmoms aren't actually trying to push anyone out and be THE mom. Many of us are just showing up in our families and are wanting a seat at the table. Many of us would actually love to be less involved and are actively working on creating those boundaries. But hey, what do I know? People who aren't stepmoms must have it right. My stepson had a birthday last month. I invited the friends over, made the cake and hung the banner. I made sure he felt special and celebrated. The woman who birthed him? Didn't do a damn thing. I show up the way I do because that's what he deserves. I'm not trying to be the mom... but someone's gotta do it. Who can relate?
