The ending of Prison School is excellent precisely because it stays true to what the manga really is. From the very beginning, the story is built on humiliation, absurdity, and frustration. Things never truly end well, and that’s exactly its identity. A happy ending would have been completely inconsistent—almost a betrayal of the series itself. The real issue is that many people projected their own expectations onto it. Because of some romantic elements, they assumed it would end that way. But Prison School was never about that. On the contrary, the ending fully respects the spirit of the manga. It’s not bad writing—it’s a coherent and deliberate choice.
