Do I Have To Cut Out Carbs Completely To Lose Weight? Question I got.
Do I Have To Cut Out Carbs Completely To Lose Weight? Question I got. "My goal is to lose 80 pounds. I keep hearing I need to cut carbs out completely. Is that what I have to do or can I still eat rice and potatoes?" You don't need to cut carbs out completely, because cutting out carbs isn't what makes you lose fat. You lose fat by being in a calorie deficit. Now when you cut carbs your calories do go down, since carbs have calories. But what you actually need is a meal plan. And yes, you do have to eat your carbs in moderation. You can't eat an unlimited buffet of rice and potatoes. You need a plan with specific serving sizes. Here's a good rule of thumb. Breakfast, pick something low calorie and high protein. A protein shake. Two scoops of protein powder with sugar free almond milk. Done. Lunch and dinner, ladies do 6 ounces of cooked meat, fellas do 8 ounces. Add 2 to 3 cups of veggies to both. If you want carbs, get a food scale. Cook whatever carb you want and weigh out a maximum of 200 grams of cooked rice or potatoes. Up to 200 grams with lunch and up to 200 grams with dinner. Want to lose faster? Cut the starches down. Want to enjoy your carbs and still lose? Stay at 200 grams or less per meal. Eat like that, no crazy snacking, no Doritos, and you'll lose fat and still have your rice and potatoes. One FYI. Potatoes are the better starch for fat loss. 200 grams of cooked potatoes is almost half the calories of 200 grams of cooked rice. Either works as long as you follow the 200 gram rule, but that's worth knowing. Now, if you would like more help losing body fat and building muscle, comment the word COACH below and I'll reach out.
