I think you did an amazing job! Florist here, chicken wire is the best mechanic, so 👏 but it can be challenging until you get used to it. I recommend starting with a taller vase until you get used to how the stems settle and the chicken wire of it all! Definitely invest in the oasis floral tape, which you obviously know now! I think you’ve got skills! Also wiring the ranunculus helps!

It’s a great start! Oasis green floral tape is going to be your bestie. Doing more chicken wire is definitely what you needed too so good job on that! I like to have the chicken wire tight enough in the bowl to not come out on its own but not so pinched together that you can’t get stems through the holes. Using greenery or in this case your hydrangea super short to add mass to the base and cover your mechanics and also starting to create more of an interlocking stem grid in the bowl will help you to add height with other things and keep it sturdy!
