we absolutely care, a 2x4 s today is pre dried size (green) where as pre early 1900s was post milling and dried. they started cutting the boards smaller to increase the ammount of lumber that can be shipped at once as well as reducing the cost to ship per board while claiming its standardize the size of boards when really its selling you less wood but atleast theyre all exactly the same size

very incorrect on this commentary situation Subway ships the bread in frozen you can't touch it you can't stretch it it's meant to be 10:00 to 11 in it's called shrinkflation it is in very intentional

It's not really the amount of bread. But the length matters. Shorter sandwich =less ingredients to make it look full. So it really does matter.

well I have to be honest with you it is not the same when Subway first opened the bread was much larger and thicker what we eat now is only around 68% of the size they used to be I hope this helps

That’s a good sidetrack for Subway to go under. As for stretching out the dough and it’s relevance, the relevance is that the dough is the compartment and if you don’t stretch out the dough, you’re not going to get as much overall product within the sandwich. So from that angle, you’re overpaying by volume.
