when visiting family in Kansas, I was taken there by my granddad back in 1993 when I was 10. and it always stuck with me. when I went last to visit family in 2019' before the pandemic, My sister and I made it a mission for us, to make a day trip out of it, and go see monument rocks, again. the soft rolling amber hills of West Kansas, during the sunset are incredible!

🚘The dirt road is honestly half the adventure, and the rocks are so much better when they are wet... But this spot is absolutely in the middle of nowhere and I can't imagine what that tow or rescue bill would cost if you got stuck. Please remember these are prehistoric rocks on private land. Be respectful and don't climb the rocks or steal fossils. Since our visit, drone usage has been restricted, so be sure to ask for permission. 🚫There are no services and no trails, no rangers, no bathrooms, no trash, no camping, and no bonfires. Access to monument rocks is a privilege that can be revoked by the owners at any time - so let's keep it clean and preserved for all to enjoy.
