When employed, you have social security taxes and Medicate taxes taken out of each check. When you retire, you receive Social Security payments. Medicare insurance does not kick in until you are 65(with a few disability exceptions).

I have SSDI and I had to wait 2 years for insurance that's not that great U had to get private eye and dental insurance, SSI and SSDI are practically the same I just received mine because of pancreatic cancer so I think you have a mis understand, maybe the person you know has a low SSI and qualifies medicaid, my ssdi i have to pay 200 out of my check every month for insurance

I received my Medicare the same exact time. I got my Social Security and I was 65.

If you don't take the insurance because you are covered by your retirement you are penalized for not taking it.Go figure

you can apply thru your state welfare for extra help and if you qualify they pay that Medicare premium. hope that helps
