We may never know exactly what horrors she endured, but her physical condition tells us everything we need to know. Gianna was the victim of a violent se*ual assault—an unthinkable violation no living being should ever suffer. ⁠ ⁠ A Good Samaritan found Gianna and left her outside the local police department after hours. When officers discovered her, she was trembling, unable to stand, and clearly in distress. They rushed her to an emergency vet, where it was confirmed that Gianna had been se*ually assaulted. From there, she was transported to the shelter. That’s when we got the urgent call.⁠ ⁠ What was done to Gianna isn’t just abuse—it’s depravity. Her tail is shattered beyond repair and must be amputated. She suffered severe internal trauma, with significant bleeding from both her rectum and vulva. It is hard to fathom the cruelty inflicted on her by the hands of a monster.⁠ ⁠ It's no surprise that Gianna is shut down, trembling, and refusing to walk. Now hospitalized, she is receiving pain management medication and being monitored around the clock. Once stable, she will undergo surgery to amputate her tail and be spayed. It’s the first step in what will be a long and uncertain road to recovery.⁠ ⁠ This is a situation unlike any we’ve faced. Gianna deserves justice, compassion, and healing, but we can’t do it without your support.
