I’ve delivered feed for a merchant and sat nav’s get you near but don’t always work because of weight restrictions

farmer always says ya we have big trucks down here all the time and when getting closer the lane narrow entrance is shit and can't turn around, and when u see the farmer they always say i wasn't expecting the truck to be so big

When we had grain lorries coming in, I would make sure they knew where we were and would give them directions if they needed them.

I did animal bedding and honestly 90% of the time even if we knew 3 days prior and rang ahead it was a bloomin nightmare getting hold of a busy farmer 😂 thankfully me and the lads started mapping all our farms together on an app called KIP App, you can drop pins as a group and leave pics/notes route info etc on each pin, categorise them and they do link to truck nav apps to go direct to pin, was a godsend especially when in the couple years I was there I probably only did a handful of farms more than once! Somewhere different everyday and all over the UK! Loved it but other drivers knowledge is invaluable and farmers.. if you can get hold of them 🤣

Good way to be, down our end it'll try to get you to go in the top road but lorries can't get under the railway bridge so have to go the long way round. Sat Nav is never gonna tell you that. Those that don't ask first call us at the bridge lost & then it's a pain to try & navigate them in from there 😂
