@shuntyty: i’ll be forever grateful to be so well surrounded. even when i didn’t feel deserving, good people managed to find their way to me and pull me out of the deep ends. there were times when i hated myself so much that i forgot what i looked like. those were difficult times as you can imagine. i was young and full of youth, and yet i was ducking my reflection like i owed it money. i just couldn’t stand myself. i couldn’t stand my face, my voice, my body, my reflection. i couldn’t stand living. i hated what i was. myself. i hated being trapped in this body that i didn’t identify with. i was me, but this wasn’t me. it took a lot of convincing for me to accept that this body was mine. that it was on me to change the things i didn’t like and accept the things i didn’t think i liked. i’m now proud to say that i love and accept myself. i’m also proud to admit that i didn’t get there on my own and that i borrowed the love that others had for me to fuel my own for myself. i’m not ashamed to admit that i was a stranger to myself and most times i didn’t recognised the face that was staring at me in the mirror. i’m now fond of myself. and if you’re seeing me take tons of pictures or stare at my reflection too hard… don’t think too much of it, i’m just scared of betraying myself again. i’m profoundly afraid to miss out on my life again, and becoming nothing more than an empty shell. to hide my soul in such depths that i feel like i’m carrying a corpse again. can i be saved..? will i save myself ? #writing #writingtok #poetry #feelings
