I don’t get it tbh. The other organizations in my area do non protest community events, organize protests across the week, and call for strikes and boycotts as well as supporting unions.

That's why we went to a political conference and some workshops instead of the protests in the same area. Was much more productive and allows us to meet with several local organizations and politicians in one space to work together for solutions. Change starts at the local level. Was sad that me and my wife were the only people under the age of like 45.

that’s why i’ve been boycotting big brands, i only shop at thrift stores, don’t go to walmart or target everyone needs to do so and more support local that’s all i can do atm

meanwhile I live in germany and the workers are literally going in strike because of Trump ALL the time. I dint understand why the US does protests in that way when all youre doing is eating into the very little free time you already get. Protests only work if its more than performative action, it has to cause actual problems with the system.

I think the conversation needs to be slightly more productive than it is right now. True protesting on a Saturday with police cooperation is not nearly as effective as other things, it still provides a space for people to be heard. But it’s gone too far. We have had 3 no kings day protests all on Saturdays. Our next one needs to be in the middle of a workday on like a Wednesday. There needs to be no one telling the police. And it needs to be a much more passionate expression of our rights.

i think the biggest issue is people aren’t willing or ready to sacrifice in order to raise awareness/make change. I don’t meant physically losing your life but I do mean losing your jobs, not buying from fast food, fashion, and large corporations, or even having to sit in jail for a while due to “having no permit” or “disorderly conduct” as of being apart of such protest. If you want change it’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows, just like the civil rights movement it took collectives of people who had to lose something in order to gain fairness.

There used to be protests on weekdays but we didn’t get enough people. For additional action, I used to work for Mayday Movement USA for protest encampments. I was hoping it would catch on and I could do one in Boston, but not many came. People mainly came to the 50501 type protests instead.
