@thevagdoc: Follicle stimulating hormone otherwise known as FSH is a hot topic lab test. The question is does it have value for you in diagnosing perimenopause or post menopause or are you being sold a lousy story? #thevagdoc **** This is general educational information not specific medical advice meant for any individual
One of my employees just told me she asked her doctor to do labs and he said it was pointless. Clearly disregarding perimenopause. She’s 41! I had labs but it’s important to do the right time of the month and follow up again.

They said I was menopausal 5 yrs ago! I’ve continued to have a cycle every month…why would they set that expectation on a blood test? I’m 54.

I’m 51 and have LH surges on an ovulation test every month, does that mean I’m still going to cycle in that month and are considered still in early peri? I had an LH surge, but I’m already a week late. I’ve had regular cycles before this month. I’m also showing sub clinical hypothyroidism on my last blood test a few weeks ago. Just had my first hot flash. Is it from my thyroid or peri?

I had a partial hysterectomy 10 years ago. I have both ovaries. I'm now 52yo. How do I know if I'm menopausal? I've never had any of the typical symptoms. Am I just lucky? Or do I have a big ordeal still ahead?

Yeah, I did a home menopause test (I was gifted it by a product testing company) and it tested FSH. It said I was advanced menopausal but I still get my period a few times a year. Someday it will stop 😅

I got tested and it all came back normal but I literally got my period the night before the bloodwork was done. Would that have skewed the results? I went 11.5 weeks without a period prior to that period.

If you take HRT will that cause Fsh to be low? Or will it still rise if ovaries stop working?

Speaking Up :
My great aunt (grandmother's sister) told me she never had any symptoms of menopause, but assumed she was well passed it as she was in her mid-80s. She had a hysterectomy in her mid-30s, but her ovaries were left intact. HRT wasn't really a thing in her middle years.

So what do we do? We’re having all these issues and we’re just on our own for the most part.

Can you talk about those of us, who have sensitive nervous systems (C- PTSD/neurodivergent) who are extremely sensitive to meds/hormones. I was put on “standard protocol” and PTSD was triggered big time.
