i’m studying body oriented psychotherapy currently, and in order for the client to feel trustful and safe around therapist, especially if they are doing a bodily exercise where therapist might have to touch parts of the clients body, it’s very important for the therapist to slowly start breathing like the client. with the same rhythm, same depth, same pattern etc. this is one of the ways to create subconscious contact, connection and safety feeling for the client. we call it raport/symbios. and i think this interpretation with loustat is just beautiful and magical, considering the fact that they do this unconsciously and unaware of it.
