Its not true that the patients you acquire on headway are not your patients. If you leave headway you can take the patients with you. This is clear in their contract and also confirmed with the rep

alma and headway are terrible! all vc tech companies are!! read the fine print and understand that they will throw you under the bus when clawbacks come despite what they say. shortcuts and time saving isn't always the best- for individuals or for our profession.

Know your worth :
I’ve had my own group practice since 2018. I use Alma for referrals and headway for billing. I am independently credentialed with many of the plans but recently, headway has added that you cannot be independently contracted with the insurance and be contracted under them without getting their permission. I HAVE to take insurance because my practice is dedicated to POC, although we accept all, but most have insurance.

I was billing insurance solo but they went from my rate of 111 to 75 but only paid me 35 per session so i switched to headway and tava bc i spent over 6 hours in the phone with ins companies

Setting up a private practice isn’t the easiest but overall I wish folks would at least try to set up their own private practices if this is the way they wanna go. I got credentialed with Midway and Alma first and a few weeks later did my private applications and things have been very smooth.
