Exactly! In Lloyd’s perspective, he’s trying to encourage Arin to push his limits by telling him “you have the potential to be the best ninja to ever lived” LITTLE does he know he’s acc putting the exact same pressure on Arin as the ninja and Wu had put on him. It literally parallels with Lloyds prophecy - how he was destined to be the greatest ninja and to defeat the dark lord. The only problem is, Lloyd doesn’t realize how much all that glaze and high expectations have ruined him - it’s why he’s always blaming himself and putting too much pressure on himself, now instead he’s doing that to Arin, but instead of pushing himself like Lloyd did in the past, he’s trying to escape it bc he feels like he’s not good enough for Lloyds expectations 😭🙏

i absolutely love this dynamic, but i get so frustrated when the fandom solely tries to pit the blame on arin. because yes, arin was not making the best decisions leading up to the s2 finale and onwards, but a lot of that was a direct product of how lloyd handled arin and the issues he at times was outright expressing! he definitely meant well and had a ton on his shoulders, no doubt, but so much of how lloyd handles arin so easily seconds as being dismissive as his problems, esp when all those problems are so intertwined in how arin views them. clearly lloyd sees a great deal of potential in arin and he wants to nuture in to the point where he can embrace it fully, but the way he goes about it is constantly pushing an arin who is constantly feelings deprioritized and down on his luck further away
