This just happened to me and I immediately negotiated and they meet me in the middle. I was going to take action if they didn’t work with me though. It was worth pushing back and protecting myself and I also still managed to get unemployment

You can get unemployment if they force you to resign in lieu of termination. PLEASE call the unemployment office and tell them what happened and see if they will call your employer.

They tried to do this to me when i was 19, but LUCKILY I HAD LAW IN SCHOOL AND WAS LIKE NU UH CUZ YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY ME IF I QUIT! So i said: “the proper thing to do if you are firing me is fire me” and asked to se the itemized receipt of what i was getting paid for my…well, firing. They made it look like i was making a big fuzz out of nothing, like “it doesn’t have to get to lawyers” and i was like: “nonono, i didn’t say anything about lawyers, i just asked to see cuz it is my right” I don’t think they were expecting a 19yo to know all of that, well jokes on them they actually had to fire me and pay me for it cuz they didn’t have motive for it 🙃
