Paper plates that have grease or food residue cannot be recycled as the residues can ruin the recycling process. Since they have to go to landfill instead Charlie is correct, it would be wasteful.

They use paper plates everywhere in the US, even in posh hotel breakfasts. It’s so wasteful. We have two dishwashers and it’s the best thing ever 😀

I was curious too cause I was considering to start using paper plates but this is what google said about paper plates being recycled. You would save on water though so thats good.
