as someone whos been TTC for 5 years, it HURTS when we see someone else pregnant. I lost my joy for others. I want to be happy, but it just makes me mad that once again, its not me... BUT I could never want my kid to be singled out bc of my trauma. thats a different level and I hope she got help with her feelings.

I am a speech therapist and when I announced my pregnancy my principal got an email from a parent of one of my students telling her that they were devastated to hear about my pregnancy because of the detrimental effects this would have on their son and his ability to someday get into a prestigious high school. He was a second grader.

When I was about to have my son 4 years ago a parent asked me if there was any way to come back to the classroom a few days after having him (this was mid February) and stay until the end of summer when her son would leave to go to kindergarten. I’m in Canada and maternity leave is 12 to 18 months so I had to tell her no, I wouldn’t return the week I had my son and give up maternity leave for her son

I was a full time nanny while going through infertility myself. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But never would I have shamed a parent for their pregnancy. I watched so many parents have more children and I would smile and celebrate and then go home and cry. I think I loved those babies more because of my situation 💜

I am proud of you and your principal for handling it right and not caving in. I know it can be difficult. Congrats on the baby. Also, no hate to that family, because I get fertility issues and miscarriage issues(I had both) and the demands were very unreasonable.

I once had a coworker, who experienced infertility, tell me some women would kill to feel sick if it meant they were pregnant. This was after someone asked how I was feeling and I said I was always sick and felt like trash. Which was true! I threw up at least once a day the entire time, even when I was in labor
