as a native, I still wear moccasins whenever I go camping and hiking

I wear Merrill shoes. I absolutely agree with you. The only time I wear boots is during the winter when's it's cold.

might "barefoot shoes" be something for you? you're not actually barefoot but they are as close to it as you can get, they often have a wider toe box for a more natural positioning of the toes and they have thinner more flexible souls for exactly the reason you described in this video

I always wear my rat boots, but thats just me, I find them comfortable for long rucks. I also always blouse my boots too so nothing crawls up my legs. What are your thoughts on that?

Word! To the fullest! Can’t feel your feet right! Don’t like to drive in boots either.

Great idea. The moccasins from yesterday were great. They had thick leather souls and I kept mine for years. Thanks

On hills and mountainous wilderness hiking boots are highly recommended. You don’t want to twist an ankle in the middle of nowhere

When I was young, we either had cheap sneakers or flip-flops. Neither one of them are good for hiking. It was easier to go barefoot

I prefer a shallow tread with broad spaces or a deeper tread *if the tread is angled--not perfectly vertical*.
I want mud to be less likely to stick in the tread.

I have bad ankle, so I have to wear boots that supports my ankles or I won’t go very far into the woods . Also, I don’t want to feel the ground under my feet because I don’t go for a stroll in the woods I usually go for pretty nice sized hikes.

moccasins both protect your feet and are able to do the exact same thing that you're doing with your tennis shoes.
