@unickdetailing: One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned after running a car detailing business and managing employees for the past 2.5 years is this: When you start a business and begin hiring people, you often want to be the “cool boss.” The one that trusts everyone, gives a lot of freedom, and treats everyone like friends. I used to criticize strict bosses when I was an employee. But when you’re the one running the business… paying payroll, insurance, equipment, vans, marketing, and everything else that comes with owning a company… your perspective changes. The problem isn’t trusting your team. The problem is when trust gets confused with lack of leadership. And when that happens, people get too comfortable. Standards drop. Boundaries get crossed. This doesn’t mean treating employees badly. Treat your team with respect. Value their work. Pay them fairly. But never allow people to forget who is responsible for the business and the results. Because being a good leader isn’t about being the most relaxed boss. It’s about protecting the business you worked so hard to build. Most people won’t understand this… Until they run their own business. ⸻ #cardetailing #mobilecarwash
