if you have a dremal or they make these awesome sphere rotors gouge things that attach to grinders but also may be worth cutting the side so it's low enough you could just use the router with a flush trim style bit that has the bearing between the cutting edge and router instead of at the end of the bit then glue the strip back on a chisel would suck but could also work

set the router on the edge of the board and make marks then measure accordingly or actually measure it and get it to a 64 for a snug fit
