i had pocd as a young teen and I genuinely thought I was evil and should k*ll myself. I know that it's really not the same thing but just being more open about this topic would have really helped me. I've come to believe that we need to talk about this stuff so people feel like they can reach out for help. that's how we prevent children from being hurt!!

I’m a psych student and this comment section proves why we need people educated in this field.

Idk I think if we start to try to understand it’ll become normalized, that’s how you open the door. What is there to understand?

Honestly it is a very needed perspective, we can not combat the issue if we don't understand it

She should never had a child knowing she is p*do. She’s weird and genuinely hope she didn’t harm her child or any other kids for that matter

Unfortunately her situation is like way way way way way too nuanced and complicated to be understood by any of us/in a public forum

What really matters is making sure people who have these feelings, but haven’t harmed any children, feel safe asking for help. That’s how we actually prevent kids from being harmed. Her speaking up and sharing her story feels like a step in the right direction.

understanding doesn’t mean normalizing. understanding allows you to take steps at fixing it. the woman actually sounds like a decent person bc she acknowledges it’s wrong and doesn’t want to hurt anyone.

We can’t ever stop people from feeling this way, but we can give people the resources to deal with it in a way that doesn’t harm other others. People can’t control how they feel that they can usually control how they act.
