Exactly like yes, colorism is a thing and looking white is a beauty standard to SOME but not everyone wants to be that or look like that

it’s always so confusing to me, maybe because i’m dark skinned but i’ve never desired to be white. yet whenever i would play with fashion, do freckles, straighten my hair etc. the first instinct of someone trying to insult these choices was to accuse me of wanting to be white. as if white people have a monopoly on certain features
