It’s so sad and heartbreaking that this is the reality of Myanmar now. I travelled there in 2017 as a teenager with my Dad, step Mum and little sister and had the most amazing time! My step Mum is Burmese and sister is half Burmese/Aussie. We got to meet her whole family that lived in a small village just outside Yangon. My sister and Step Mum would travel from the border inside Thailand (where they live) through Myanmar via car to get to Yangon frequently as she didn’t have a passport at the time, and hasn’t been able to return for quite a few years due to all that is going on 😞
