I don’t care what them people do😂😂😂😂 they actually can stop talking to us altogether. Was it cool that some did.. absolutely. But it ain’t hurting nobody if they don’t. I don’t know what that lil weekend supposed to do. And the ones participating wasn’t nobody talking to them anyways. All of this is pointless to me.

I have a couple authors who have my personal number and we still RARELY speak. I don’t know what the difference in making an announcement for an author black out would make. Just don’t talk to us when you don’t want to talk to us lol.

Honestly, I don’t feel no type of way about it🤷🏾♀️. They are not obligated to interact with me and vice versa. Im fairly new to the book space but I remember when authors promoted their book and kept it moving. I feel as though this blackout will hurt both the readers and the authors.

My goodness! I didn’t even know this was a thing “author blackout” LOL. I personally don’t care if they do or don’t because their behavior is out of my control. I no longer tag authors, unless I’ve gotten an ARC from them to review. My mindset is- I’m here to yap about the books and engage with other book baddies and that’s that & that mindset has been working for me very well. Now I would say the authors who interact on my posts… it’s an added touch & I enjoy conversing with them but I am not posting w/the mindset “oh I hope the author see and comment, etc.

I follow and am Facebook friends with a good number of authors. I've been watching them put this blackout idea together. I'm excited for them. If it allows them to be more productive and give me my shit faster, then I will encourage it.

I don't feel any kind of way about not communicating with authors. I have one author that I comment on their post whenever I see one, but I do not expect them to respond as if it is owed to me. I think there is too much obligation on both ends for authors and readers.

If I feel like I need to protect my peace, I think everyone else can, too. 💕 I think you made wonderful points to highlight both sides. Don’t engage, but don’t get upset when we don’t engage by not knowing or reading your work. Also, move how you’d like.
