in veterinary medicine we have the concept of "individual variation", meaning we have ranges but we consider the whole picture when we see a blood test. that's why for example we have the "grey area" of diagnostic for hyperthyroid cats, that get treated for hyperthyroidism while theoretically being in "normal range" (10% upper range of normal) if they have clinical signs and other illness has been ruled out. it baffles me this is not a concept of human medicine.

my iron levels and haemoglobin are low , cant tolerate iron tablets but havent been offered alternatives ...underactive thyroud, pernicious anaemia for 30+ yrs. do i really have to live with constant exhaustion ?

they keep telling me my exhaustion cannot be low iron because my number is 59, but I'm like.. if it's a range could it be that my body needs it higher within that range? they won't even try 🤦
